dust to dust

artist statement:

From the beginning of time and throughout the ages, many unrelated civilizations from around the world have understood similar concepts of the origin of life, that humankind was created from dust. This series of gelatin silver prints is a narrative illustrating a person disintegrating into dust; first by self-realization, then by fighting the inevitable body expiration, until only feet are left blowing away as dust in the wind. This body of work is created through original methodologies, using multiple techniques, conceived in 2007 and produced from 2007 to 2009. In short, this series is "a concept of a concept," a conceptual body of work based on a universal concept of human origin. Influenced by question and answer, truth and lie, mythology and dogma, spirituality and religion, belief, disbelief and denial, this narrative dares to confront the timeless question of existence while striking curiosity of where the dust came from and where it goes.
